VNS "LITE" – Next Generation Stimulator is About 1/2 the Current Size

Two weeks ago the FDA approved a smaller version of the stimulator. The new model is 43% smaller in volume, has increased functionality and improved diagnostics.

Since I can't drink Miller Lite anymore, I've nicknamed the new model VNS "LITE"; tastes great, less filling. I still have the Model 102, which is the current version.
 

The #2 Most Frequently Asked Question – What Are My Settings?

I am asked this question at least five times a week. On July 20th at my quarterly scheduled visit to the study site, 2,269 days after implant (6 years, 2 months and 17 days), I learned the answer:

"ON": 7 seconds
"OFF": 18 seconds
Current: 1.25 milliamps
Signal frequency: 20 Hertz

I do know that there have been no adjustments whatsoever to the settings for well over five years. Appropriate settings are different for every patient. But patience with VNS Therapy^TM is truly a virtue. Personally I wouldn't know a Milliamp or Hertz if it bit me in the a**.
